The Canada Media Fund (CMF) has added two directors to its senior team with the appointment of Karen Tohana and Emmanuelle Petrakis.
The funder announced Wednesday (July 5) that Tohana has been hired as director of English content, and Petrakis has been promoted to director of strategic partnerships. Tohana reports to Rod Butler, VP, content and regulatory, while Petrakis reports to Mathieu Chantelois, EVP, marketing and public affairs. Both are based in Toronto.
Tohana most recently served as business and rights manager, unscripted programming, at the CBC, and worked as a business analyst at Telefilm Canada prior to joining CBC.
Petrakis has been with the CMF since 2014 and most recently held the role of senior manager, strategic partnerships. She has played a key role in growing the CMF’s portfolio “of more than 70 national and international partnerships,” and will continue to build on the relationships with stakeholders in her new role, said the release.
CMF has also hired Philippe Sabourin as a coordinator on its Growth & Inclusion team, and promoted Gaëlle Essoo as French market liaison. Both are based in Montreal, with the appointments marking the expansion of the Growth & Inclusion team into the French market in Canada, said the release.
Sabourin was previously a coordinator for the Short-term Compensation Fund at Telefilm, and reports to Marcia Douglas, VP, Growth & Inclusion.
Essoo is the lead editor of CMF’s digital magazine Now & Next, and will now split her time between her editorial work and her new role on the Growth & Inclusion team.
