Jessie Films, PaNik Fiction adapting Bon Cop, Bad Cop for TV

Bon Cop Bad Cop
The eight-part series for Bell Media will see Patrick Huard and Colm Feore return to their roles.

M ontreal’s Jessie Films and PaNik Fiction are adapting the 2006 hit Canadian action-comedy film Bon Cop, Bad Cop and its 2016 sequel into an original series for Bell Media, with Patrick Huard and Colm Feore reprising their roles.

Currently in development, the 8 x 60-minute series of the same name is produced by PaNik Fiction and Jessie Films (Huard, Anik Jean, and Antonello Cozzolino) in collaboration with Bell Media. Huard also heads up the writing team, which includes Éric K. Boulianne, Suzie Bouchard, Benoît Chartier and Sébastien Ravary.

The series will once again follow the exploits of two detectives played by Feore and Huard as they team up with a younger generation of cops for an investigation that begins in an Indigenous community.

The story will be directly inspired by the bilingual Bon Cop, Bad Cop films, which made huge splashes at the box office.

“The Bon Cop, Bad Cop brand really resonates with the public. We’re thrilled to revisit this franchise as an original series,” said Suzane Landry, VP, content development, programming and news, Bell Media, in a statement.

Huard said bringing the film franchise to TV “means more time to delve deeper into the characters and their relationships and to exploit the stories’ full dramatic and comedic potential.”

“For fans, this means many more laughs and a lot more fun. It also means a chance to reach as many people as possible across the country,” added Huard.
