Vortex Media promotes Christopher Giroux to SVP role

Giroux now holds the title of SVP, production, with oversight of Vortex's slate of TV movies and feature films.

Toronto-based Vortex Media has promoted Christopher Giroux to a senior role within the boutique film studio.

Vortex Media announced Wednesday (June 7) that Giroux (pictured) has been elevated to SVP, production, overseeing all production work across the studio’s made-for-TV movies and features slate.

Giroux, formerly head of production, now reports to CEO Justin Rebelo, in addition to reporting to chief creative officer Jesse Ikeman.

He first joined Vortex Media in 2018 and has overseen production on more than 20 TV and feature films, according to a news release. Titles range from Hallmark Channel originals Heart of the Holidays and Christmas in Toyland, to Shudder original horror film Anything for Jackson, and romantic comedy The End of Sex.

Rebelo said in the statement that Giroux “is a passionate and tireless leader on set,” adding that he “has demonstrated the consistent ability to successfully manage productions, even under the intense pressure of a global pandemic.”

Giroux added that he is “passionate about not only the stories we tell in front of the camera, but the culture we create behind the scenes.”

Vortex Media recently expanded its team, hiring former Rogers Sports & Media executive Nataline Rodriguez to the new role of SVP, development.
