Neshama Entertainment has hired former Bell Media production executive Mitch Geddes (pictured) to their scripted content team.
Geddes, based in Toronto, has joined the company effective Monday (May 29) in the newly created role of senior director of development and current productions.
He is “responsible for sourcing original IP from writers and indie producers,” in addition to managing a film and series slate from development to production and on-set supervision, according to a news release.
Geddes, who was part of Playback‘s 2022 10 to Watch cohort, departed his role of production executive, original programming, drama and feature film at Bell Media last week. He first joined the company in 2017 in a coordinator role, and also served as co-manager of the Harold Greenberg Fund’s Shorts to Features program before being elevated to a production executive.
His television credits include CTV medical drama Transplant, Crave comedy Letterkenny and Crave and APTN lumi limited series Little Bird, while his film credits include Anthony Shim’s Riceboy Sleeps and Lindsay MacKay’s The Swearing Jar.
Neshama recently signed a first-look deal with Abdul Malik, who was also in Playback‘s 2022 10 to Watch cohort, as part of the prodco’s expansion into scripted series. Hallmark Channel renewed the company’s one-hour drama The Way Home for a second season in March.
“Mitch’s creative vision and eye for talent will be a wonderful complement to Neshama’s stellar current development team as we continue to grow the volume of Canadian content film and TV series with writers and filmmakers across the country,” said Neshama Entertainment CEO and co-founder Arnie Zipursky in a statement.
Added Geddes: “I’m thrilled to be joining the talented team at Neshama Entertainment, supporting the continued growth and development of their dynamic slate of content.”
