Hot Sheet: Letterkenny demand jumps with May 2-4 special

Apple TV+'s Ted Lasso led overall demand for the week ahead of its season three finale on May 31.

A  Victoria Day special buoyed audience demand for Crave original comedy Letterkenny, landing it at No. 2 on the digital originals chart.

The series, produced by Toronto’s New Metric Media, was 22.49 times more in demand than the average TV series in Canada for the week of May 15 to 21, according to Parrot Analytics. A nearly three-point increase in demand helped it move up one spot from the previous week, thanks to the release of special Letterkenny: May 2-4 on May 19.

An upcoming season and possibly a series finale on May 31 also pushed up the demand for Apple TV+’s sports comedy-drama Ted Lasso (35.23) by more than three points from last week as it led both the digital originals and the overall TV chart

Elsewhere on the digital chart, Prime Video’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel re-entered at No. 7 ahead of its series finale on May 26 with a demand average of 14.99 and Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale (13.53) re-entered the chart at No. 9.

On the overall TV chart, HBO’s Succession (34.78) saw a slight dip in demand and landed at the second spot, bumping Showtime’s Vancouver-shot Yellowjackets (30.25) to No. 3.

NBC original reality series The Voice (U.S.) was a new entry on the TV chart at No. 5 with an average of 24.19.

Parrot Analytics calculates its Top 10 lists using Demand Expressions, which are shown by using a metric that demonstrates how much more in-demand the top series are than the average TV show (linear, pay TV, SVOD and AVOD) in Canada. For example, a difference of 1x represents the market average and 10x means a series is 10 times more in demand than the average TV show in this market.
