Hot Sheet: Bridgerton spinoff makes royal debut on digital chart

Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story
Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story sat on the No. 5 throne on the digital originals chart, while HBO's Succession topped the overall TV chart.

It was Netflix’s rule on the digital originals demand chart with spinoff series Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story entering the top 10 list for the first time.

Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, created by Shonda Rhimes and starring India Amarteifio, broke into the list at No. 5 and was 17.74 times more in demand than the average TV series in Canada for the week of May 8 to 14. The hype around the series, which premiered on May 4, also reignited interest in the original Netflix drama Bridgerton, with the series re-entering the digital chart at No. 6 with an average of 16.36.

Completing the Netflix hat trick was Stranger Things (19.16), which moved up one spot to No. 4. Crave’s Letterkenny (19.83; New Metric Media) and Disney+’s The Mandalorian (21.77) maintained their third and second spots, respectively, despite the latter seeing a five-point dip in demand from last week.

Apple TV+’s sports comedy-drama Ted Lasso (31.36) held firm to its No. 1 spot with a slight uptick in demand, while the streamer’s dystopian drama Silo (15.04) is new on the digital chart at No. 8.

The stunning recent election episode of HBO’s Succession (32.65) helped vault the series to the top of the overall TV chart, moving up from the second spot and bumping off Ted Lasso to No. 3. Showtime’s Vancouver-shot Yellowjackets (31.77), which streams on Crave alongside Succession, moved up from No. 3 last week to No. 2.

The Crunchyroll anime One Piece, now in season 20, re-entered the overall TV chart at No. 6 with an average of 22.27.

Parrot Analytics calculates its Top 10 lists using Demand Expressions, which are shown by using a metric that demonstrates how much more in-demand the top series are than the average TV show (linear, pay TV, SVOD and AVOD) in Canada. For example, a difference of 1x represents the market average and 10x means a series is 10 times more in demand than the average TV show in this market.
