CTV’s dysfunctional family comedy Children Ruin Everything is officially coming back for a third season.
The series is created by Kurt Smeaton and produced by Toronto’s New Metric Media, with season three now in production in Toronto and Hamilton, Ont.
The 10 x 30-minute season three marks a decreased episode order from season two, which came in at 16. The first season was eight episodes.
Smeaton serves as executive producer and showrunner, with additional EPs including New Metric’s Mark Montefiore, Arrested Development writer Chuck Tatham, and star Meaghan Rath. Alyson Richards (The Retreat) is a producer.
Returning with Rath in the cast are Aaron Abrams, recent Canadian Screen Award winner Ennis Esmer, Logan Nicholson, Mikayla SwamiNathan, Nazneen Contractor, Dmitry Chepovetsky, Veena Sood, Lisa Codrington and Darius Rota.
Bell Media Distribution holds international rights to the series, while New Metric Media is the exclusive international sales agent. It is produced with the participation of the Canada Media Fund and the Bell Fund.
The series was acquired by the Roku Channel as a Roku original series in the U.S., with the second half of season two (labelled as season three by the Roku Channel) set to drop on May 12.
Children Ruin Everything‘s second season is billed by Bell Media as the “top Canadian comedy” in the 2022-23 broadcast year among the 25 to 54 and 18 to 49 demos, citing data from Numeris.
