Toronto-based Lone Eagle Entertainment is in development on a feature-length documentary about famed mentalist The Amazing Kreskin, who had a 1970s TV series that was filmed in Ottawa.
The project, titled Kreskin, comes after Lone Eagle recently acquired the life story rights of George Kresge, known professionally as The Amazing Kreskin, according to a news release.
Journalist, documentarian and television producer Allen Abel is on board as producer of the doc, with Lone Eagle founder and president Michael Geddes as executive producer.
Lone Eagle aims to debut the doc in 2024. The budget and financing for the film, as well as the platform for its premiere are still to be determined.
Now 88, the New Jersey-born Kreskin studied psychology and has performed his mentalism and mind-reading tricks in some 25,000 shows on stages around the world and for prominent figures including U.S. President Ronald Reagan, said the release.
Kreskin has written more than a dozen books, appeared on various late-night talks shows and starred in The Amazing World of Kreskin, which aired from 1972 to 1975 on CTV.
Kreskin will reveal the never-before-told and “secret life story of a very peculiar, and very famous man,” said the release.
“The Amazing Kreskin is a true original,” said Geddes in a statement. “His story is a magnificent journey back on his 70 years as one of the most original performers ever. It will also reveal what a complex, quirky and curious man the real Kreskin is. The mere mention of his name conjures an immediate vision of mystical powers… he is a household name.”
Kreskin comes on the heels of Lone Eagle Entertainment’s premiere of the Jason Priestley-directed feature-length doc Offside: The Harold Ballard Story, which made its world premiere at the Whistler Film Festival last December and aired on CBC and CBC Gem in January. Geddes and Priestley are now developing a scripted limited drama about the same subject.
