EXCLUSIVE: The dark family drama, with a cast including Michelle Nolden and Art Hindle, is now in production in Paris, Ont., until late April.

A vi Federgreen is back in the director’s chair for the dark family drama Home Free.

The feature is now filming in Paris, Ont., and is expected to wrap in late April. It is directed by Federgreen (pictured), who is a co-writer alongside Sarah Deakins and Reese Eveneshen.

Federgreen is also a producer on the film under the Federgreen Entertainment banner, alongside Laura Tremblay of Toronto’s Lucky Dime Films, Jennifer Pogue of JPO & Co. Entertainment, Emily Andrews of Filmcoop, Julia Tomasone of Bella Vita Pictures, and Emily Foster.

Home Free follows three estranged sisters who must face buried secrets when it’s revealed that their father is dying. It stars Michelle Nolden (Heartland), Art Hindle (Black Christmas), Jill Frappier (Hudson & Rex), Natalie Brown (Nightmare Alley), Tara Spencer-Nairn (Corner Gas), and Al Mukadam (Pretty Hard Cases).

The film is privately funded, according to a news release, with Indiecan Entertainment handling theatrical distribution in Canada. The budget was not disclosed.

Home Free marks Federgreen’s third feature-length project as a director, following the projects Family Seductions (Neshama Entertainment, MarVista Entertainment) and Summer at Charlotte’s (Trilight Entertainment). It is described as a “passion project” for the veteran Canadian producer.
