Virtual Production House opens Vancouver location

Virtual Production House (VPHouse), a subsidiary of Toronto-based film studio The Other End, has launched a new location in Vancouver.

The facility (pictured) includes a 6,000-square-foot soundstage with a 40-foot diameter LED volume for virtual production, as well as an additional 4,000 square feet of production office space. The studio is designed for episodic series, lower-budget features or TV movies, as well as commercial shoots and social shorts, according to a news release.

The Vancouver location was first announced in early 2022, when The Other End unveiled the launch of VPHouse. It is led by filmmaker Daniel Hsia, who serves as president, VPHouse Vancouver, and is located in Delta, B.C., part of the Greater Vancouver area.

VPHouse first opened in Toronto last year as a cost-effective solution for independent producers wanting to take advantage of the fast-growing virtual production technology. The company also offers in-house expertise, including visual effects, production, and computer sciences, from pre-production to post.

The Toronto location opened its doors in August 2022, with VPHouse and The Other End founder and CEO Amir Endalah overseeing operations. VPHouse Vancouver is the subsidiary’s second location.

“British Columbia is an international hub for screen production,” said Hsia in a statement. “We want to be here to employ and cultivate local talent and contribute to this growing industry.”

Endalah added that the Vancouver location “brings [VPHouse] one step closer to making virtual production more accessible to all filmmakers and creators.”
