Hot Sheet: South Park jumps to top two in overall TV demand

Meanwhile, Pedro Pascal-led series reigned atop the audience demand charts for another week.

Comedy Central’s South Park needled its way into the top two on the overall TV charts following its episode parodying Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Ranking No. 5 last week, the adult animated series about a group of foul-mouthed kids in a Colorado suburb was 37.13 times more in demand than the average TV series in Canada for the week of Feb. 13 to 19, up from 24.61, according to Parrot Analytics.

In another banner week for Pedro Pascal, the actor’s two series claimed three of the top spots across the digital and overall demand charts. Disney+’s sci-fi epic set in the Star Wars universe, The Mandalorian (pictured), not only maintained the top spot for digital originals with an average of 28.62, up from 19.45, it made its way back onto the overall TV charts at No. 3 with a matching average of 28.62.

Meanwhile, HBO’s Alberta-shot series The Last of Us prolonged its run at the top of the overall TV chart. The post-apocalyptic drama starring Pascal was 37.45 times more in demand than the average TV series in Canada, slightly up from last week’s average of 37.15.

Crave was also well represented as Paramount+’s Star Trek: Picard, which is on the Canadian streamer, ranked No. 2 for digital originals and No. 5 for overall TV demand with an average 23.76 on both charts. Meanwhile, Letterkenny placed No. 6 for overall TV and was 16.14 times more in demand than the average series in Canada.

Netlix’s Stranger Things (18.69), Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso (18.21) and Paramount+’s 1923 (16.83) rounded out the top five for digital originals, while Netflix’s You (15.34) crept its way to No. 7 on the chart.

On the overall TV side, TVOKids’ Paw Patrol (24.68) held firm to its No. 4 ranking while NBC’s Saturday Night Live (23.53) and SpongeBob SquarePants (21.76) fell both in ranking and demand from the prior week placing No. 6 and No. 10, respectively.
