Hot Sheet: Pedro Pascal series top demand charts in Canada

The actor dominated the overall TV demand chart for the week of Jan. 30 to Feb. 5, thanks to multiple starring roles and an appearance on Saturday Night Live.

Chilean-American actor Pedro Pascal has dominated Canadian screens, with series featuring the star topping both the digital and overall demand charts.

Pascal was the host of NBC’s Saturday Night Live on Feb. 4, which rose to No. 1 on the overall TV chart with a demand average of 27.1 for the week of Jan. 30 to Feb. 5, according to Parrot Analytics.

The actor also stars in Disney+’s The Mandalorian, which jumped from No. 5 to No. 1 on the digital originals chart and No. 2 overall with 23.2, and HBO original The Last of Us, which made its debut on the overall demand chart at No. 8 with an average of 21.92.

The Last of Us was shot in Alberta and is based on the Naughty Dog video game of the same name, about a smuggler who takes a 14-year-old girl out of an oppressive quarantine zone. The series, currently streaming on Crave in Canada, has steadily performed in linear ratings in the U.S., attracting 7.5 million viewers, according to data from Nielsen and Warner Bros. Discovery.

The remaining series on the overall TV demand chart are: Crunchyroll’s My Hero Academia at No. 3 with an average of 22.98; AMC’s The Walking Dead at No. 4 with 22.96, down significantly from the previous week’s 30.53; and TVOKids’ PAW Patrol at No. 5 with 22.91.

As for the digital originals series, Netflix’s Stranger Things remained at its No. 2 spot with 20.68, down from the previous week’s 23.15. Paramount+’s Star Trek: Picard, which streams on Crave in Canada, rose from its No. 10 spot on the chart to No. 3 with 18.96, up from the previous week’s 14.35. Meanwhile, Paramount+’s 1923 came in at No. 4 with an average of 16.88, and Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso landed at No. 5 with 16.29.
