Blue Ant Media has greenlit three series in the mystery, crime and paranormal genres to air on its Canadian specialty TV networks and global free streaming platforms this year.
The latest originals slate includes the 6 x 60-minute Haunted by History (working title; Small Army Entertainment) for T+E/HauntTV, the 2 x 60-minute true crime documentary A Secret to Die For (Blue Ant Studios) for T+E/Total Crime, and the 6 x 60-minute Secrets in the Sand (Shark Teeth Films) for Cottage Life.
A news release issued Wednesday (Feb. 1) from Prime Time in Ottawa said the lineup is overseen by Sam Linton, Blue Ant Media’s VP, production and development, global media.
Haunted by History (pictured) is a follow-up to the two-part original documentary Haunted Gold Rush, which launched on T+E in Canada and HauntTV in the U.S. last October and “saw T+E perform 140% higher in its premiere time slot,” said the release. The new series sees the return of paranormal investigators Corine Carey, Leanne Sallenback and Kelly Ireland, who investigate ghost experiences and their ties to historic locations.
Blue Ant International handles presales and licensing opportunities worldwide for Haunted by History, which will make its world broadcast premiere in the spring on T+E in Canada. It will also air on Blue Ant Media’s free streaming channel HauntTV in the U.S., U.K. and Australia in 2023.
A Secret to Die For investigates the deadly result of someone’s dark past and features interviews from family and friends. The first two episodes will make their world broadcast debut on T+E in Canada this summer. Blue Ant International handles presales and licensing opportunities worldwide for the series, which will also air in 2023 on the free streaming channel Total Crime in the U.S.
In Secrets in the Sand, experts uncover four global stories of “extraordinary curiosities that were once concealed in the deserts of the planet.” The series is slated to premiere this summer on Cottage Life in Canada.
