Hot Sheet: Ginny & Georgia debuts on digital originals top 3

AMC's The Walking Dead fought its way to the top of the overall TV demand chart for the week of Jan. 9 to 15.

Netflix’s Ontario-shot Ginny & Georgia snagged a top-three spot on the digital originals chart a week after its season two premiere.

The 10 x 60-minute coming-of-age series (pictured), created by Sarah Lampert, came in at No. 3 on the digital originals chart for the week of Jan. 9 to 15, according to Parrot Analytics. The second season, which premiered on Jan. 5 and was filmed in Toronto and Cobourg, Ont., with several Canadian directors, was 20.18 times more in demand in Canada than the average series for the week.

Netflix’s Stranger Things and Disney+’s The Mandalorian maintained their spots on the digital originals chart for the week. Stranger Things, which also appeared on the overall TV demand chart at No. 3, remained at the top of the digital chart despite having a lower demand average of 24.87 than the previous week’s 26.65. Meanwhile, The Mandalorian was No. 2 on the digital chart with a demand average of 21.34 – an increase from the previous week’s 20.62. The Star Wars franchise series also landed at No. 7 on the overall TV chart.

Hulu original The Handmaid’s Tale rose from its No. 8 spot on the digital originals chart to No. 4 for the week with an average of 19.56, up from the previous week’s 16.81. Disney+’s Andor fell from its No. 4 spot to No. 5 as its average demand fell to 16.68 from the previous week’s 19.01.

On the overall TV demand chart, AMC’s The Walking Dead took the top spot from HBO’s Game of Thrones for the week with a demand average of 31.54 – a comparatively higher number than the previous week’s 27.22. Game of Thrones ranked at No. 2 on the chart with 28.01, while HBO’s The White Lotus sat at No. 4 with 23.84 and HBO Max’s Sesame Street remained at No. 5 with 23.83.
