Toronto-based animation producer Guru Studio has expanded the reach of preschool series True and the Rainbow Kingdom (pictured) through Fauna Entertainment with new licensing and media deals of the brand in Turkey and the Balkans.

Fauna Entertainment secured deals with Cartoon Network Turkey for the series, which will air on February 2023, as well as with the Bosnian national television Hayatovci for 2023. True and the Rainbow Kingdom will also have live musical shows in Turkey scheduled for February 2023.

The Turkey-based media company also secured additional licensing partners, including Beta Kids for picture and activity books; CA Games for puzzles; Hobby Tex for bedding; and Umit Canta for backpacks, which will all be launching in 2023.

Fauna Entertainment is the exclusive licensing and media distribution partner for True and the Rainbow Kingdom in Turkey and the Balkans, according to a news release. The media company manages the apparel, publishing, accessories, games, broadcast television, digital media, and live shows of the brand in the territories.

Cineflix Rights

Cineflix Rights has acquired global distribution rights to Crave original Bon matin Chuck (ou l’art de réduire les méfaits) (Good Morning Chuck).

The dramatic comedy series is co-directed and co-written by Jean-François Rivard (C’est comme ça que je t’aime), Sarianne Cormier (Les Vestiges), and Patrick Dupuis (Punch Club). It is produced by St-Laurent TV’s Lou Bélanger, Marieme Ndiaye and Rafael Perez, and Connect3 Media’s André Barro and Pablo Salzman.

The 10 x 60-minute series follows a morning show host who finds himself at the centre of a scandal involving his drug and alcohol addiction. It stars Nicolas Pinson (Les Invincibles), Chantal Fontaine (C’est comme ça que je t’aime), Sylvain Marcel (19-2), Bernard Fortin (Providence), Benz Antoine (The Expanse and V-Wars), WWE wrestler Kevin Owens, and Marilyn Castonguay (C’est comme ça que je t’aime).

Richard Life, head of acquisitions, Cineflix Rights said in a statement that C’est comme ça que je t’aime (Happily Married) “has been a great success for us, and we’re looking forward to taking Good Morning Chuck out to our buyers.”

WildBrain

Halifax-headquartered WildBrain has acquired Ukrainian success story Brave Bunnies, a 2D-animated preschool series that currently airs in more than 80 territories around the world. Coming on board as a coproducer for season two, WildBrain will air the show in Canada on Family Jr., while the company’s CPLG team has also taken on worldwide licensing and merchandising for the IP.

Brave Bunnies revolves around two rabbits who explore the world, play games and meet new animal friends. It was created by Glowberry co-founder Olga Cherepanova, who serves as the show’s creative producer.

Season one (52 x 7 minutes) was a copro between Glowberry and Spain’s Ánima Estudios, which retain distribution and CP rights in their domestic regions. This new deal makes WildBrain a majority stakeholder in the IP. Production on season two was halted due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February, but is now expected to be delivered in June 2023, with WildBrain’s Vancouver studio joining the production team.
