Blink49 Studios partners with Vanguarde Artists

The deal will see the studio and the management company develop and produce original IP for the global market.

Blink49 Studios has formed a content development and production partnership with agency Vanguarde Artists Management.

The Toronto and L.A.-based studio will work with Vanguarde Artists and its clients to develop original projects, with the two companies serving as coproducers on any titles that result from the partnership. Vanguarde Artists represents an array of behind-the-scenes talent, including writers, showrunners and directors.

Blink49 Studios’ anchor investor and lead strategic partner Fifth Season (formerly Endeavor Content) will have a first look as an international distributor. The deal is touted as the “first of its kind” in Canada, according to a release.

The partnership builds on Vanguarde Artists’ expansion into content development. Last week the management company unveiled the launch of its content label Vanguarde Pictures, hiring established showrunner Adam Pettle (Nurses) as executive producer to develop IP with clients alongside Vanguarde co-heads Tina Horwitz and Jay Horwitz.

Blink49 Studios CEO John Morayniss (pictured) said in a statement that Vanguarde Artists’ “thoughtful, strategic and creative approach to supporting their clients” made them the “perfect partner” to create a slate for the global market.

Added Tina Horwitz and Jay Horwitz in a joint statement: “This partnership enables us access to Blink49’s considerable studio infrastructure as well as the wealth of knowledge and global reach that John and his team bring to the table. Of course, we’ll continue to work with our key third-party producers and production company collaborators to always seek the best-aligned opportunities for our clients and their projects.”
