Factory Film Studio, Hot Shots Films team up on Red Pine City

The crime drama, directed by Frank A. Caruso, is currently in production in Edmonton until Nov. 26.

Factory Film Studio has partnered with Hot Shots Films for their first joint feature film, Red Pine City.

Principal photography on the crime drama, directed by Frank A. Caruso, has begun in the Edmonton area and will run until Nov. 26, according to a news release. It is produced by Caruso, Jarvis Greiner of Hot Shots Films and Michael Patrick Lilly of Factory Film Studio, who also serves as an executive producer. Griffin Cork is the associate producer.

Red Pine City is produced with the support of the Alberta Tax Credit and Factory Film Studio, which also holds international distribution rights.

Factory Film Studio, which is a vertically integrated development, production and distribution entity, brought the script to Hot Shots Films after the studio moved its entire production operations from Kingston, Ont., to Edmonton earlier this year, according to a spokesperson of the film.

Written by Caruso, Rod Carley and William Plumstead, Red Pine City follows a reluctant mafia enforcer who teams up with a country singer to take down a local mobster.

It stars Eric Roberts (The Dark Knight, Doctor Who), Rick Ravanello (General Hospital, Lethal Weapon), Elise Muller (The Young and the Restless, Parenthood), Alex Gallant (Risen), and Jonathan Nickerson (The Outsider).

Other cast members include Alberta-based actors Griffin Cork (Heartland), Tyler Duffy (Wynonna Earp), Darrell Portz (Caution: May Contain Nuts), Dianne Wulf (Christmas with a Crown), Geordie Cheeseman (Hands that Bind), and Randy Brososky (From Italy with Amore).

Lilly said in a statement that he sees limitless filming possibilities in the city’s growing film industry, adding that “this is only the beginning.”
