Lilly Singh joins CTV’s Battle of the Generations

Singh will host and serve as an executive producer on the quiz show with her banner Unicorn Island Productions.

Scarborough, Ont.-born comedian Lilly Singh has joined CTV’s primetime quiz show Battle of the Generations as host and executive producer.

The 20 x 60-minute quiz show, which was greenlit by Bell Media in June, is produced by Bell Media Studios and Motion Content Group.

Singh (pictured) serves as an executive producer with her banner Unicorn Island Productions alongside the prodco’s head of development, Polly Auritt. Battle of the Generations is also executive produced by Bell Media Studios’ Jennifer Couke and Michelle Crespi, and Motion Content Group’s Martin Oxley and Abigail Adams.

Casting is currently underway, with production set to take place in Toronto in February 2023. Additional programming information will be announced in the coming months.

Battle of the Generations features four contestants each representing a different generation – Baby Boomer, Gen X, Millennial and Gen Z – as they battle through multiple rounds of pop culture trivia.

Bell Media and Motion Content Group hold equal distribution rights to the series, a spokesperson for Bell Media told Playback Daily, with format rights available for local adaptations in the international market.

Singh is best known for her viral YouTube videos and is the former host of the late night talk show A Little Late with Lilly Singh on NBC, as well as a judge on Citytv’s Canada’s Got Talent. Her prodco is set to release its upcoming YouTube Originals kids and family series, The Mindful Adventures of Unicorn Island, in 2023.

Singh and Unicorn Island Pictures signed a multi-year first-look scripted content and second-look unscripted content deal with Blink49 Studios and Bell Media in July. In 2021, the prodco signed a first-look unscripted deal with Universal Television Alternative Studio.
