David Oulton is poised to become an even bigger hosting presence on OUTtv as Vancouver-based LGBTQ+ network acquires his roundtable-style talk show Who’s There? and renews his series Face to Face with David for a fifth season.
Both shows are produced by Calgary-based L&C Style Productions. Lisa McGillivray and Netty Vinden are executive producers of Who’s There?, which is directed by Candace Schmidt with Jose Luis Gonzalez as cinematographer.
The new 6 x 30-minute series sees Oulton speaking with a panel of guests — made of up an artist, business leader, and a viewer — about a variety of topics and issues live, in person at the Paradox Hotel in downtown Vancouver. Guests include actors Emmanuelle Vaugier (Two and a Half Men), Mackenzie Gray (Riverdale) and Tammy Gillis (Siren). It is set for a 2023 release.
Financing for Who’s There? was a combination of private investment and sponsorship, Oulton tells Playback Daily. Face to Face with David is financed through OUTtv, second window licensing deals, sponsorship and private investment.
Face to Face with David is more interview-focused, with guests from the worlds of entertainment, business, fashion, and politics. The 13 x 30-minute fifth season will also air in 2023 and is filmed at the same location as previous seasons — the Rimrock Resort Hotel in Banff, Alta.
The guest list for season five is yet to be confirmed. Previous notable guests have included Raven-Symoné, Vanessa Williams, Natasha Henstridge, Corbin Bernsen, and Miriam Margolyes.
The Schmidt-directed Face to Face with David is coproduced by OUTtv and also airs daily in Canada on OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network, Slice, Showcase, and Movietime. It also streams on Amazon’s Prime Video, Apple TV and several other broadcasters, and is available in the U.S., U.K., Australia, South Africa and other territories.
Oulton is a television personality, actor, producer, and entrepreneur who was born in England and raised in Alberta, B.C. and Los Angeles. He is represented by Kelsea Forzani-Mannix at Details Talent and Kalee Harris at Play Management.
He tells Playback he’s in development on an unscripted series with Laura O’Grady and Jenny Steele from Snapshot Studios. He plans to also host that series and go into production in the new year. O’Grady will direct and Steel will produce.
