Super Channel greenlights Dane Cook doc

Brace for Impact: The Dane Cook Story will be directed and written by Brett Harvey and executive produced by Cook, Score G Production Films, and Abrupt Films.

Edmonton-headquartered network Super Channel has commissioned a feature-length documentary film about U.S. comedian and actor Dane Cook (pictured).

Brace for Impact: The Dane Cook Story will be directed and written by Brett Harvey (Breaking Olympia: The Phil Heath Story). The executive producers are: Cook, Adam Scorgie and Shane Fennessey of Edmonton-headquartered Score G Production Films, and Rocky Mudaliar of Edmonton’s Abrupt Films. Also onboard to produce are Upstream Flix and Gruvpix Films.

The Super Channel Original documentary will go into production either in the middle or end of November in Los Angeles and Boston, according to Scorgie, who tells Playback Daily that he and Harvey will meet with Cook for pre-production plans next week.

Brace for Impact: The Dane Cook Story is slated to air in late 2024 on Super Channel. It will chronicle Cook’s rise in the film and entertainment industry and his personal life, including a legal battle with a family member.

Don McDonald, president and CEO of Super Channel, added that they have no doubt “this will be yet another exceptional documentary to add to the growing list of Super Channel Originals, many of which are from Adam and the team at Score G.”

Score G Productions and Super Channel recently partnered on the documentary Bif Naked: One of a Kind. The prodco also has other productions in the works for Super Channel, including Breaking Olympia: The Phil Heath Story; Tootoo: The Jordin Tootoo Story; and Thunder: The Life and Death of Arturo Gatti.
