Gary Mundell, Colin Geddes pair up for Tippett Productions

Tippett Canada president Mundell and Ultra 8 Pictures' Geddes are spearheading the launch of the Canadian-based shingle to produce original content.

Tippett Canada president Gary Mundell and Ultra 8 Pictures’ Colin Geddes are joining forces to spearhead the launch of Canadian-based venture Tippett Productions for original content.

Two-time Oscar winner Mundell (pictured left) is also COO of California-based animation, media production and VFX prodco Tippett Studio. Toronto-based Geddes (pictured right) is founder of film prodco Ultra 8 Pictures as well as Shudder curator and former programmer of the Toronto International Film Festival’s Midnight Madness section.

The two are launching Tippett Productions along with other partners “to create and shepherd new, original film and TV projects from a roster of animation and VFX artists, including several exciting IPs from the master, Phil Tippett himself,” according to a news release.

The new production shingle builds upon the collaboration from 2021 adult animated horror Mad God from writer-director-producer Tippett, on which Geddes served as an executive producer. It premiered last year at the Locarno Film Festival and has won six awards on the festival circuit. It was released theatrically this past June and had its streaming debut on Shudder.

Leading development at Tippett Productions will be Geddes and his partner, writer and producer Katarina Gligorijevic, who will work closely with Mundell and other Tippett team members on the first slate of projects. Tippett, the Oscar-winning Tippett Studio founder, will also bring his creative vision to the new shingle. Geddes will continue to run Ultra 8 Pictures.

Tippett Studio’s projects include Disney+ series The Book of Boba Fett, The Mandalorian and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, as well as season two of Netflix’s Ontario and Nova Scotia-shot Locke & Key. The studio recently moved into content production for themed entertainment and expanded into Canada earlier this year, opening an office in Toronto.
