Corus Entertainment is transitioning its kids and family entertainment streaming platform Nick+ into the new Teletoon+.
The replacement is set to take place on Sept. 1, and will be available with commercial-free and downloadable content to Prime Video, Bell Fibe TV, Virgin Plus, and RiverTV subscribers for an additional $5.99 per month.
Teletoon+ will include popular shows and franchises, as well as “new series that will be available to stream exclusively on the new streaming platform in Canada, like Warner Bros. Animation’s Bugs Bunny Builders and Batwheels,” according to a press release.
Other series available at launch include Cartoon Network Studios’ The Powerpuff Girls (pictured), Craig of the Creek, We Baby Bears, and Adventure Time; Warner Bros. Animation’s Tom & Jerry In New York, Looney Tunes Cartoons, Scooby Doo and Guess Who?, Animaniacs, and Jellystone!; DC Entertainment’s Teen Titans Go! and Batman: The Animated Series; and season two of Warner Bros. Animation and DC Entertainment’s DC Super Hero Girls.
Nickelodeon classic programming like iCarly will not be available on Teletoon+, but SpongeBob SquarePants will be available on streaming service StackTV moving forward, according to a spokesperson from Corus Entertainment.
Troy Reeb, EVP of broadcast networks for Corus Entertainment, said in a statement that “Corus is expanding our streaming strategy to reach and engage audiences, and the new Teletoon+ leverages our deep relationships with studio partners to bring the world’s best kids’ content to Canadian families,” adding that Teletoon is a Corus-owned, Canadian brand. “This exciting extension of Teletoon+ will provide a much larger and differentiated offering of premium kids’ content – all on-demand, and all on one platform,” he said.
The Corus-owned Canadian version of Nickelodeon (later called Nick+) has been launched on numerous platforms, including Prime Video, Bell Fibe TV, Alt TV, Virgin TV, Apple TV and Prime Video in Canada. Corus Entertainment launched StackTV on Prime Video in 2019. Since then, StackTV has expanded on other streaming platforms like Rogers Ignite TV and Ignite SmartStream, which became available to customers this past February.
