Oscar-winning American filmmaker Steven Spielberg is set to make his Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) debut with the world premiere of his new film, The Fabelmans.

Inspired by his own childhood, The Fabelmans is directed, produced and co-written by Spielberg (pictured) with Pulitzer Prize winner playwright Tony Kushner (Lincoln), who also serves as a producer on the film. Three-time Oscar nominee Kristie Macosko Krieger (West Side Story) is also a producer on the feature. The premiere marks the famed director’s first-ever appearance at TIFF, according to the festival.

The coming-of-age film follows the story of a young man who discovers his family’s shattering secret. It stars Michelle Williams (Manchester by the Sea); Paul Dano (The Batman); Seth Rogen (Steve Jobs); Gabriel LaBelle (The Predator); Jeannie Berlin (The Heartbreak Kid); Julia Butters (Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood); Robin Bartlett (Moonstruck); Keeley Karsten (Hunters) and Judd Hirsch (Uncut Gems).

Universal Pictures has scheduled a wide theatrical release for the film on Nov. 23.

The festival, which runs from Sept. 8 to 18, has yet to reveal its opening and closing features.

The Fabelmans is one of a handful of world premiere titles TIFF has announced so far for its 47th edition. Other films announced include Clement Virgo’s Brother, Rian Johnson’s Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, Sanaa Lathan’s On the Come Up, Nicholas Stoller’s Bros, Gina Prince-Bythewood’s The Woman King, and Michael Grandage’s My Policeman.
