Cameras are rolling in Toronto on Shelved, the recently announced CTV comedy created by Overlord and the Underwoods showrunner Anthony Q. Farrell.
The 8 x 30-minute series, produced by Toronto’s Counterfeit Pictures in association with CTV, is a single-camera comedy set in a library in the city’s Parkdale neighbourhood and follows the “unassuming yet extraordinary” experiences of its employees.
The greenlight was announced earlier this month as part of a raft of titles revealed through Bell Media’s upfront presentation.
Farrell, who was named Playback‘s 2021 Showrunner of the Year, is executive producer and showrunner. Additional executive producers include Counterfeit’s Dan Bennett, Shane Corkery, and Anton Leo, as well as pilot director Aleysa Young, while Colin Brunton is producer. Jay Vaidya is co-executive producer and Sadiya Durrani is coproducer.
The ensemble cast for Shelved includes Lyndie Greenwood (The Expanse), Chris Sandiford (What We Do in the Shadows), Dakota Ray Hebert (Run Woman Run), Paul Braunstein (Baroness von Sketch Show), Taylor Love (Most Dangerous Game), Varun Saranga (Wynonna Earp) and Robin Duke (Schitt’s Creek).
Writers on the series include Farrell, Vaidya, Durrani, Brandon Hackett and Eva Thomas. Additional directors include Playback 10 to Watch alum Samantha MacAdam, as well as Cory Bowles, Joyce Wong and Cazhhmere.
International rights to Shelved are held by Bell Media Distribution. Financing for the series was partially provided by the Canada Media Fund and the Bell Fund.
