Cameron Pictures is rolling on season three of Pretty Hard Cases, now in production in Toronto.
The 10 x 60-minute season is produced by Cameron Pictures in association with CBC and Universal International Studios. It was announced as part of CBC’s 2022/23 winter broadcast lineup earlier this week. Production is expected to wrap later this summer.
Pretty Hard Cases co-creators and executive producers Tassie Cameron and Sherry White will continue to serve as co-showrunners. Amy Cameron and Alex Patrick are executive producers and Wanda Chaffey serves as producer.
The police dramedy stars Adrienne C. Moore and Meredith MacNeill as two very different detectives who become unlikely partners. New to the cast in season three is Wendy Crewson (Saving Hope, Good Sam), who joins additional returning cast members Karen Robinson (Schitt’s Creek), Al Mukadam (Miss Sloan) Daren A. Herbert (Kim’s Convenience), Trevor Hayes (The Girlfriend Experience), Amanda Brugel (The Handmaid’s Tale), Tricia Black (Band Ladies) and Miguel Rivas (The Beaverton).
Joining the co-creators in the writers room on season three are Trey Anthony, Mazin Elsadig, Sam Godfrey, Maisie Jacobson, Jillian Locke, Carina Samuels and Robina Lord-Stafford. White will also be a director on season three, in addition to Cory Bowles, John Fawcett, Gail Harvey, Winnifred Jong, Kelly Fyffe-Marshall, Katrina Saville, John Stead, Sudz Sutherland and Madison Thomas.
The first two seasons of Pretty Hard Cases were acquired by Amazon-owned AVOD Freevee (formerly IMDb TV) in 2021 for the series’ U.S. debut. It also recently landed on Netflix Canada. NBCUniversal Global Distribution handles worldwide distribution.
The series’ debut season earned 11 Canadian Screen Award nominations in 2022, including six performance nods for MacNeill, Robinson, Mukadam, Brugel, Black and Kim Coates.
