Nelvana revs up for Monster Jam animated series

The Corus Entertainment-owned studio has signed a wide-ranging partnership with Florida's Feld Entertainment to expand the family-friendly motorsport brand.

Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana is developing a new animated series for kids around Monster Jam, one of the biggest names in the monster trucks family entertainment industry.

Working with Florida-based Feld Entertainment, which operates the Monster Jam motorsport events tour, Nelvana will distribute the action-adventure series (52 x 11 minutes), manage licensing and merchandising globally, and represent the Monster Jam brand in Canada and France.

Monster Jam Gears & Galaxies (working title) is aimed at upper preschoolers and features Monster Jam trucks on a mission to rescue “boosters”—playful robots that give the trucks extraordinary abilities—before they fall into the hands of the wrong crowd.

The Monster Jam brand appeals to a wide-ranging demographic that spans Gen X’ers and Millennials, making it natural source material for a family show, said Feld Entertainment in a release.

The trucks tour, which began in 1992 in the U.S., has since expanded internationally to 32 countries. In 2019, it recorded an annual attendance of four million, according to Feld.
