Blue Mountain Film Festival announces advisory committee

Daniel Bekerman, Allison Black and Tara Woodbury are among the committee members for the inaugural year of the southern Ontario festival.

The Blue Mountain Film Festival (BMFF) has announced its advisory committee for the inaugural edition, scheduled for June 1 to 5 at the eponymous southern Ontario ski resort.

Producer Daniel Bekerman (The Witch) of Scythia Films is chair of the committee, which also includes: creative producer Allison Black (Giant Little Ones); Tara Woodbury, producer (Night Raiders) and Netflix Canada’s first content executive; multi-disciplinary artist and actor Tamara Podemski (Coroner); and writer/director/Hungry Eyes Media co-founder Sudz Sutherland (BLK: An Origin Story).

Rounding out the advisory committee is: Drew Fagan, professor at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at the University of Toronto; Jennifer Frees, senior VP of business development for the Toronto Region Board of Trade; John Rakich, president of the Location Managers Guild International; and Marni Moreau, film festival initiator/production liaison at Blue Mountain Resort.

Helen du Toit is executive and artistic director for BMFF, which was announced in December and is presented by Blue Mountain Village Association.

The festival includes international films with a spotlight on Canadian productions, and a three-day creative forum with workshops for emerging- and mid-level talent.
