Michelle Séguin named president and CEO of TFO

The appointment comes more than two years after long-standing president and CEO Glenn O’Farrell resigned to take another position outside of the sector.

M ichelle Séguin has been appointed president and CEO of Ontario’s French-language public media company Groupe Média TFO.

The appointment took effect on Thursday (Feb. 24) and was made by Minister of Education Stephen Lecce and TFO chairman of the board Jean Lépine. Séguin has served as interim CEO of TFO since May 2021.

The search for a permanent TFO president and CEO has been held since 2019, when then-TFO head Glenn O’Farrell resigned in August after accepting a role as CEO of an insurance agency.

COO Eric Minoli was initially named interim president and CEO, but was placed on administrative leave in May 2021 when allegations surfaced about workplace harassment and intimidation, first reported by Radio-Canada. Minoli is still listed as COO of TFO on the company website as of press time.

Séguin has been with TFO since 2019, working across its finance, legal and human resources departments, as well as supporting the board of directors. She has more than 25 years of experience in the public sector, serving as VP of corporate affairs and chief risk officer at the Ontario Deposit Insurance Corporation and chief administrative officer and VP of Legal Aid Ontario. Séguin is a chartered accountant and holds an MBA from Queen’s University.

“From the moment we asked her to assume the management of TFO on an interim basis in May 2021, Ms. Séguin put employees and the franco-Ontarian community at the heart of her vision,” said Lépine in a statement. “On the strength of her experience as a leader of public institutions, she has demonstrated that she is a thoughtful leader inspired by the values of the organization.”

“On the eve of the launch of our new 2022-2025 strategic plan, I am happy to be able to contribute to such an important public organization for the francophonie,” added Séguin. “With this new vision, we want to create an engaged and enriching work environment, anchor TFO in the French-speaking community and develop our offer to provide even greater support to teaching staff, learners and parents.”
