Super Channel picks up four more Go Button Media series

The new deal, which includes the docuseries Colossal Machines, brings to seven the amount of titles Super Channel has acquired or commissioned from Go Button.

Edmonton-headquartered Super Channel has extended its partnership with Toronto-based prodco Go Button Media for four new factual series.

The newly announced docuseries deal includes two acquisitions, The Animal Within (6 x 44 minutes), which premieres Dec. 20 and looks at the evolution of animals and humans, and Colossal Machines (pictured; 6 x 44 minutes), premiering Jan. 3 with a look at the world’s largest machines. Both series are represented internationally by Autentic Distribution.

The deal also includes two new Super Channel Originals, Mysteries of the Ancient Dead, premiering next summer with a look at ancient civilizations, and Secret Societies: In the Shadows, also due in summer. Mysteries of the Ancient Dead will be distributed internationally by Bossa Nova, while Secret Societies will be distributed by DCD Rights.

All four aforementioned titles are bound for Super Channel Fuse, which features adult-focused programming.

Other Go Button Media series commissioned by Super Channel Fuse this year include Secret Nazi Expeditions and Forgotten Frontlines, both Super Channel original productions. They’re also slated to premiere next year.

A seventh factual series from Go Button, the science-focused Phantom Signals, premiered on Super Channel Fuse in 2020.

“By broadening our programming with these homegrown, compelling docuseries, we have been able to create a regular slot on Monday nights offering our viewers entertaining, factual content,” said Jackie Pardy, Super Channel’s chief content officer, in a news release.

Go Button Media executive producer Daniel Oron said the partnership with Super Channel “is a key component” in the company’s growth of its slate and creates more opportunity for their series and business in the international marketplace.
