Cineflix Media has the first option to develop original content and the exclusive first-look international distribution rights.

Executive producer Jacqueline Bynon is partnering with Cineflix Media to launch a new true-crime production company grounded in Toronto.

More to the Story Media is fronted by the seasoned writer, producer and investigative journalist. Under Bynon’s leadership the shingle will develop and produce premium investigative true-crime series, docs, movies and podcasts for a global audience, with the goal of focusing on high-profile cases that honour the victims.

Cineflix retains the first option to develop and produce original content, along with the exclusive first-look, international distribution rights. Bynon will be able to access developmental support and services for her projects from Cineflix Productions.

According to the company there are several projects already in development.

Bynon has executive produced several titles with Cineflix, including the cold case investigation series and podcast The Clown and the Candyman (which she also narrates); true crime series Murder in ParadiseCold BloodMotives & Murders; medical series Sin City ER; and documentary specials Colleen Stan: The Girl in the BoxElizabeth Shoaf: The Girl in the Bunker and Joyce Mitchell and the New York Prison Break.

She has been producing with the media group since 2008.

“There’s always more to a story than you hear on the news or in court—and that’s where I want to go. At its core, crime is about psychology and relationships, and the deeper we dig, the more we reveal the human tragedy at the centre of the story,” Bynon said in a release. “Trust is a key ingredient that gives an investigative journalist the incentive to keep digging, and Cineflix has given me the freedom to pursue stories rigorously over the years—I’m excited to be partnering with them on More to the Story Media.”

“Jacqueline was the driving force behind many of Cineflix’s stand-out investigative true crime series that saw success on an international scale. Integrity and purpose are woven through her work,” added J.C. Mills, president and commercial Director, Cineflix Productions. “What impresses me most is that Jacqueline leaves absolutely no stone unturned in her pursuit of the truth.”

The partnership is one of several recent announcements from Cineflix as it grows its creative community. Last month the company announced the launch of Husk Media, led by prolific Canadian showrunner Morwyn Brebner and former Cineflix COO Andrew Akman. And in April, former Cineflix Productions president Charles Tremayne also launched his New York-based shingle, First Story Productions, with backing from the Montreal-based company.

Previously Cineflix also unveilled partnerships with Buccaneer Media under the leadership of Tony Wood and Richard Tulk-Hart, as well as Connect3 Media with Pablo Satzman at the helm.
