LaRue Entertainment’s True Dating Stories has been picked up by Fuse Media in the U.S., in addition to getting the greenlight from CBC Gem for a new season.

Fuse, a U.S.-based cross-platform entertainment company targeting Latino and multicultural millennial and Gen Z audiences, has acquired all past episodes of the original comedy series, and launched them on its streaming platform Fuse+.

LaRue is preparing to head into production on eight new episodes of the series, with the new season set to launch on CBC Gem in winter 2022. The show goes behind the scenes of real-life dating stories, and asks fans to submit their funniest and most outrageous dating tales.

The series is also getting the podcast treatment, with LaRue Entertainment also producing a six-episode adaptation for CBC Podcasts, set to launch at the end of the year. It marks the first time a CBC Gem series has been adapted for audio, according to a release.

True Dating Stories is created by Andy King and Matt King. The new season is directed by Allison Johnston (22 Minutes), Zack Russell (She Stoops to Conquer), Darrell Faria (Tall Boyz), Samantha MacAdam (Prom Night), and newcomer Vanessa Magic. It is written by Emma Malm, Kayla Lorette, Amber-Sekowan Daniels, Cassie Cao and Nour Hadidi.

Producers on the series are showrunner Andy King, Allison Johnston, Tinu Sinha, Emily Skeffington, Andrew Ferguson and Matt King, with funding coming from the CMF, CBC, Ontario Creates, LaRue Entertainment and tax credits.
