9 Story Media’s Dylan gets the greenlight

The CBC original series will also debut on Cartoon Network and HBO Max this fall as part of the Cartoonito preschool programming block.

Dylan, a CG animated interactive comedy from 9 Story Media, has received the greenlight from CBC and Cartoon Network.

The show was unveiled by WarnerMedia Kids & Family on Tuesday (July 27) and will debut on Cartoon Network and HBO Max this fall as part of the Cartoonito preschool programming block.

Based on the book series by British illustrator and author Guy Parker-Rees, the CBC original series was developed by 9 Story Media Group in Toronto and produced by 9 Story’s Ireland-based animation studio Brown Bag Films.

Dylan follows an imaginative, multi-coloured dog who is eager to imagine what it’s like doing different jobs, from nurse to astronaut to train conductor. It is created to try and empower and encourage children to trust their hearts, imaginations and each other, said WarnerMedia in a release.

The Cartoonito programming block, first announced at the WarnerMedia Kids & Family upfront earlier this year, is WarnerMedia’s biggest commitment to preschool in 100 years, according to the company. It has been created to align with Cartoon Network’s goal to foster self-expression and creativity in young people.

Earlier this summer, 9 Story and Brown Bag’s picked up nine nominations for the 48th annual Daytime Emmy Awards and a nomination for the 37th annual Television Critics Association.
