Production heats up on Mary Makes It Easy

The CTV Life Channel original series shot in the chef's home kitchen consists of 25 half-hour episodes, including a holiday special, and will debut later this year.

M ary Berg is back in the kitchen.

Production is now underway on Mary Makes It Easy, a new culinary series hosted by the Canadian author, chef and winner of season three of MasterChef Canada.

Produced by Boat Rocker Studios, Unscripted through Toronto-based Proper Television, in association with CTV, the show being shot in Berg’s Toronto home kitchen where the Canadian Screen Award winner provides tips, tricks and recipes to solve everyday cooking challenges and questions.

The CTV Life Channel original series consists of 25 half-hour episodes, including a holiday special and sees Proper Television co-presidents Cathie James and Lesia Capone serve as executive producers alongside VP of content Allison Grace. David Donohue is the show’s series producer.

As part of the project, submissions are now open on AskMary.ca for audiences to send inquiries to Berg – with some questions to be featured on the show. The series is expected to premiere on CTV Life Channel later this year.

The series announcement follows Berg’s other collaboration with CTV and Boat Rocker Studios’ Proper Television, Mary’s Kitchen Crush, which follows the chef as she prepares meals inspired by her loved ones.

Mary Makes It Easy follows the news that Boat Rocker Studios has launched Maven, a prodco with veteran TV executive Jessica Sebastian-Dayeh, as well as Boat Rocker Media’s initial public offering (IPO) application.

The media company is expected to debut on the Toronto Stock Exchange next week and has reduced its initial share price and the size of its offering, pricing its shares at $9 per share, with the IPO set to raise $170 million.
