I Can See Your Voice, a popular South Korean format from CJ ENM, is set to be adapted for the Quebec market.
Bell Media-owned, French-language network Noovo says it will air its version of the “mystery music” series this fall. Montreal-headquartered ToRoS is producing in association with Bell Media.
The French-Canadian adaptation marks the 17th country to commission a version of the format. Second seasons have been confirmed for Fox, RTL in Germany and RTL4 in the Netherlands. The series has been picked up by 35 territories globally, with a version on the way for the UK via the BBC.
The format sees guests guess whether contestants are good singers or bad singers, based solely on their looks. Format creator Seon-young Lee developed the project in 2012, with the show debuting in Korea in February 2015.
“This Quebec adaptation is the first major variety show Noovo is providing for viewers,” said Mélanie Bhérer, general manager, variety, lifestyle and documentary from Bell Media, in a statement, adding that the comedy, entertainment and mystery-focused format is “a perfect fit for the channel’s DNA.”
