Blue Ant Media has promoted Julie Chang to EVP, international coproductions.

Effective immediately, the executive’s elevated role will see her initiate and lead coproductions for the Toronto-headquartered international content producer, distributor and channel operator across its core integrated business units.

For Chang (pictured), this includes identifying, structuring and closing content creation deals as well as leveraging financing opportunities with international partners for Blue Ant Media’s global production arm Blue Ant Studios; its distribution business Blue Ant International; and its linear and streaming channels, according to a press release.

Reporting to Blue Ant Media CEO and co-founder Michael MacMillan, Chang also joins the company’s core management team. Further, her global role will continue to see her based in Toronto.

Previously, VP, international coproductions, Chang focused on working with partners around the world to help bolster Blue Ant Media’s production group. She joined Blue Ant in 2016 and was appointed as VP, international coproductions in 2018.

Prior to joining the company, Chang was SVP of business and legal affairs with Peace Point Rights and Peace Point Entertainment Group. She is credited with having a hand in building Peace Point’s International Rights division.

Her resume also includes serving as VP, business affairs with Behind the Scenes Services and working as an associate at Lewis Birnberg Hanet, LLP, where she represented international distributors and executive producers for scripted, lifestyle and factual programming.

“Julie’s wealth of experience in leading coproductions and her deep well of connections in the international TV industry are invaluable to Blue Ant Media’s success and growth as a world-class content creator, especially as the industry sees an increase in more complex multi-partner collaborations,” said MacMillan in a statement. “Julie’s new position enables her to be a bridge between our businesses, helping our partners maximize the creative and financial synergies across our global production units, our distribution division and our channel operations.”
