EXCLUSIVE: PNP snaps up Violation

The Toronto-based film distributor and prodco has picked up the Canadian rights to Madeleine Sims-Fewer and Dusty Mancinelli's feature.

Pacific Northwest Pictures (PNP) has secured the Canadian rights to Madeleine Sims-Fewer and Dusty Mancinelli’s Violation.

Sims-Fewer and Mancinelli’s debut feature made its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) last year, where Sims-Fewer was also recognized as a TIFF Rising Star.

Of note, Toronto-based film distributor and prodco PNP plans to release the film digitally across Canada on March 26.

Written, produced and directed by the duo, the project sees Sims-Fewer portray a troubled woman on the edge of divorce who reconnects with her younger sister. When her sister and brother-in-law betray her trust, the woman embarks on a vicious crusade of revenge.

Executive producers on the horror-drama include Deepa Mehta, David Hamilton, François Dagenais, Matthew Nayman and David James. The feature also stars Anna Maguire, Jesse LaVercombe, Obi Abili, Jasmin Geljo and Cynthia Ashperger.

Last year, Sims-Fewer and Mancinelli also earned the Emerging Canadian Artist Award from the Calgary International Film Festival and the Emerging Canadian Director Award at the Vancouver International Film Festival for the film.

Up next, Violation is set to screen at the Sundance Film Festival and the Victoria Film Festival.
