Toronto-based Cream Productions (Age of SamuraiStory of Late Night) is growing its digital division with the promotion of Johnny Kalangis to VP of digital.

Dan Magnus has been appointed executive in charge of creative development, while Andrew MacDonald has been promoted to executive in charge of creative innovation at Cream Digital.

The company has also promoted Tristan Cezair to senior creative and technical director and tapped Irene Vandertop for the role of director for business development and finance.

Kalangis (pictured), formerly head of digital, will continue to oversee Cream’s global digital efforts with an emphasis on expanding the company’s reach into emerging digital content and distribution spaces. He is currently an executive producer for the upcoming CNN podcast Behind The Desk: The Story of Late Night and a writer and EP on Dark Threads, an upcoming interactive science-fiction VR project with actor Domininc Monaghan.

In his new role, Magnus will oversee creative development from ideation through to the completion of prototyping phases for both interactive and linear digital media. He has previously served as a development executive on Cream’s TV development team before moving to digital where he worked on projects including the Hulu VR series A Curious Mind with Dominic Monaghan. He is currently producing Dark Threads.

MacDonald, meanwhile, is tasked with leading innovation-centric initiatives within Cream Digital products and projects. The executive helped launch Cream’s VR initiative in 2015 and has served as producer and engineer on A Curious Mind with Dominic Monaghan and is currently EP for Science Channel’s Survivorman VR.

In his role, Cezair oversees visual designs and technical approaches across all projects. With more than 15 years of experience, Cezair has served as creative director on projects for a number of brands and agencies. He also served as producer and engineer on A Curious Mind with Dominic Monaghan and is currently creative director and EP on Dark Threads.

David Brady, CEO of Cream, said in a statement: “This expansion is a byproduct of our exciting rapid growth. As we continue to double down in the digital space, this incredible team of experts further cements Cream as a fully integrated content company with the ability to tell stories and create experiences on all platforms – from TV to film, mobile to interactive, and VR to AR.”
