Caroline Tyre joins WildBrain as part of distribution team reorganization

Tyre will lead a reorganized distribution team as VP of global sales and rights strategy, while the company also announced a promotion and two departures.

WildBrain has hired veteran distribution executive Caroline Tyre to the newly created role of VP, global sales and rights strategy as part of a reorganization of its sales division.

Tyre will be responsible for leading WildBrain’s international sales team (outside of China), and will oversee the implementation of the company’s commercial content strategy. She starts in the role on Monday (Sept. 21), and reports to Deirdre Brennan, who joined the company earlier this year.

Tyre previously served as Genius Brands’ SVP of international distribution. Prior to that, she was a director of programming at Teletoon for five years, and has also held managerial roles at Breakthrough, eOne, Spin Master and CBC. The appointment also represents a return of sorts for Tyre, who was a sales executive for Decode Entertainment (which went on to become DHX Media and later WildBrain) in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Under the reorg, Tyre is spearheading content distribution for the U.S., U.K. and pan-European markets previously managed by Jerry Diaz, who left the company last month.

Lara Ilie has also been promoted from VP of rights strategy to a newly created role as VP of revenue share and transactional. In this position, she will be responsible for WildBrain’s VOD strategy and emerging revenue streams. Ilie will also contribute audience, platform and IP insights and analysis into overall strategy for several of the company’s business units.

The restructured distribution team also includes: Wiebke Hoefer as director of European sales (Germany, France, Benelux, Scandinavia, Israel, Switzerland and Ireland); Darcee McCartney as sales manager (CEE, Russia/CIS, MENA, Africa, Portugal, Turkey, Greece, Australia, English and French Canada, New Zealand); Rebecca Lugo as sales manager (LatAm, Brazil, US Hispanic, in-flight, Spain and Italy); Jianbo Wei as MD for China; and Jennifer Oppenheimer as sales associate (Asia, excluding China).
