Lest We Be Devoured, an in-development project from PG: Pyscho Gorman producer Peter Kuplowsky, is among a trio of Canadian titles selected for the horror-focused Frontières International Co-Production Market.

TIFF Midnight Madness programmer Kuplowsky and Shannon Hanmer are producing the feature through their Low Sky Productions banner, with Ashlea Wessel attached to direct from a script penned by Jim Munroe. The Low Sky team are riding high after inking a deal with RLJE Films that will see PG: Pyscho Gorman receive a theatrical release later in the year, and a streaming release via Shudder.

Also selected for the market is writer/director Chloé Cinq-Mars’ Oublier Charlotte (produced by Nicolas Comeau of 1976 Productions) and The Last Video Store, directed by Cody Kennedy, written by Tim Rutherford and produced by Greg Jeffs (NJC Productions), Cody Kennedy and Tim Rutherford (The Last Video Store Inc).

U.S./Canada project Tell Them What You Saw, written and directed by Chelsea Lupkin is also among the 10 projects announced in the first wave of selections. A second wave of projects will be announced next month.

While previous editions of Frontières International Co-Production Market have operated in conjunction with Montreal’s Fantasia International Film Festival, this year’s market will be held as a separate digital event due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year’s event will from July 23 to 26.

This year has seen a changing of the guard at Frontières, with the 2020 event being overseen by new leadership. A month ago, the genre-focused market revealed that Annick Mahnert was taking the reins following the departure of long-time head Lindsay Peters, who had been with the organization since 2014.
