eOne lands worldwide rights to Global drama Family Law

The studio is set to distribute the SEVEN24 Films and Lark Productions legal drama internationally, excluding Canada, as casting gets underway.

Entertainment One has picked up the international distribution rights to Global’s upcoming legal drama Family Law.

The Corus Entertainment-owned channel commissioned the series, which is produced by Calgary’s SEVEN24 Films and Vancouver’s Lark Productions, with Susin Nielsen serving as showrunner. It follows a recovering alcoholic who must work at her father’s law firm after hitting rock bottom.

eOne will handle worldwide distribution for Family Law outside of Canada. Casting is currently underway, with production set to begin later this year. The deal was brokered by Noel Hedges, EVP, acquisitions, international distribution, at eOne.

Family Law was first announced by Global in December 2019, along with the renewal of its original medical drama Nurses and the upcoming Canada/U.K. thriller Departure. Jordy Randall and Tom Cox of SEVEN24 Films and Erin Haskett of Lark Productions serve as producers.

Hasbro completed its acquisition of eOne at the end of last year (Dec. 31, 2019) with a transaction valued at $4.93 billion (US$3.8 billion). President and CEO Darren Throop now reports to Hasbro chairman and CEO Brian Goldner.
