levelFILM picks up rights to White Lie, The Rest of Us

The films, produced by Film Forge and Babe Nation, respectively, are both set to world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Toronto distributor levelFILM has picked up the Canadian distribution rights to Aisling Chin-Yee’s The Rest of Us and Calvin Thomas and Yonah Lewis’ White Lie (pictured).

Both films are set to world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in September. The Rest of Us is produced by 5 to Watch alum Babe Nation Films while White Lie is produced by Film Forge.

White Lie, co-produced with Babe Nations and Lisa Pictures, is part of TIFF’s Contemporary World Cinema and TIFF Next Wave programs. The film is written and directed by Thomas and Lewis, who produced the film alongside Film Forge’s Karen Harnisch, and Babe Nation’s Katie Bird Nolan and Lindsay Tapscott. White Lie stars 2019 TIFF Rising Star Kacey Rohl as a young woman who fakes a cancer diagnosis and becomes a local celebrity at her university campus.

The Rest of Us, directed by Aisling Chin-Yee, written by Alanna Francis and co-produced with Woods Entertainment, will have its world premiere in TIFF’s Discovery program. It stars Heather Graham as a single mother who welcomes her ex’s wife and daughter into her home after a tragic event. Nolan and Tapscott produced the film alongside Emma Fleury and Woods Entertainment’s William Woods.

LevelFILM has not currently set a theatrical release for the films. Among the distributor’s recent Canadian pick-ups are William Scoular’s Survival Box and Phil Connell’s Jump, Darling. Babe Nation was recently announced as a nominee for Indiescreen’s Emerging Producer Award.

TIFF runs from Sept. 5 to 15.
