levelFILM signs on for A Grand Romantic Gesture

Cameras are now rolling in Sault Ste. Marie on the Canada/U.K. copro, written and directed by Joan Carr-Wiggin.

LevelFILM has picked up the Canadian distribution rights to the Canada/U.K. copro feature A Grand Romantic Gesture, now in production in Sault Ste. Marie.

The dramedy is produced by David Gordian of Toronto’s Paragraph Pictures and Alan Latham of the U.K.’s Highfield Grange Studios. It is written and directed by Canadian filmmaker Joan Carr-Wiggin and stars Gina McKee (Bodyguard) as a woman who signs up for a drama class after losing her job and falls in love with another actor.

Joining McKee are Canadian actors Rob Stewart (Killjoys) and Linda Kash (Little Italy), alongside British cast members Douglas Hodge (Catastrophe), Rose Reynolds (Once Upon a Time) and Dylan Llewellyn (Derry Girls).

A Grand Romantic Gesture is partially financed by the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund and Ontario Creates.

Carr-Wiggin has directed a number of films under the Paragraph Pictures banner, including If I Were You, Happily Ever After and Love of my Life.

Among levelFILM’s most recent acquisitions are Phil Connell’s Jump, Darling and Wendy Morgan’s Sugar Daddy.
