Slime Rancher
Wattpad unveils its latest deal, Cineflix Rights nabs the global distribution rights to an Israel-Iran copro and Nelvana signs on to expand the Slime Rancher brand.

Italian entertainment company Mediaset has become the latest international company to ink a deal with Wattpad. The Toronto-based company signed a first-look deal to develop and coproduce TV series with Mediaset, based on its story library. According to Wattpad, the film After, based on the YA novels that originally appeared on Wattpad as fan-fiction, hit the top of the Italian box office when it opened earlier this year. Just last week Wattpad announced a first-look deal with Dutch prodco NL Film, joining additional deals struck in the U.S., South Korea and India.

Cineflix Rights

U.K. distributor Cineflix Rights, owned by Cineflix Media, has picked up the global distribution rights to Tehran. The Israel-Iran copro series, produced by Donna Productions and Shula Spiegel Productions in association with Paper Planes Productions, follows a Mossad agent who is forced to go rogue on her first mission in Iran. It is created by Moshe Zonder, Dana Eden and Maor Kohn and directed by Daniel Syrkin. Eden serves as an executive producer, alongside Aldon Aranya and Shula Spiegel.

Corus Entertainment’s kids production and distribution arm Nelvana has struck a global licensing partnership with U.S. indie video game studio Monomi Park. Nelvana will expand the studio’s Slime Rancher (pictured) game brand toward the creation of consumer products such as toys, apparel and accessories. Slime Rancher is aimed at children between the ages of six to 11 and allows users to explore a far-away planet to grow and harvest resources. Slime Rancher has accrued 10 million downloads and sold more than two million units since its release in 2016.
