Corus sets specialty lineup for 2019/20

W Network's drama pick ups included Riverdale spinoff Katy Keene, with Corus adding around 30 new titles in total across its specialty portfolio.

Corus Entertainment has unveiled around 30 new acquisitions for its portfolio of specialty channels.

On the lifestyle side, HGTV Canada picked up new series such as Christina on the Coast (8 x 60 minutes), Rock the Block (4 x 60 minutes), Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (10 x 60 minutes) and A Very Brady Renovation (4 x 60 minutes), the latter of which follows the restoration of the infamous Brady Bunch house.

Food Network Canada acquired competition series Cupcake Championship (4 x 60 minutes) and holiday-themed competition series Holiday Wars (4 x 60 minutes). Also returning to the channel are Halloween WarsHalloween Baking ChampionshipKids Baking Championship and 30 Minute Meals

Meanwhile Corus picked up a new dating-show reboot, Blind Date for Slice, while also bringing back The Real Housewives of Orange County and Below Deck for new seasons.

W Network made a number of high-profile drama acquisitions, including Riverdale spinoff Katy Keene (13 x 60 minutes) and Pearsonwhich is exec produced by Suits creator and executive producer Aaron Korsh. The specialty channel also added detective series Nancy Drew and the family drama Party of Five

On History, new series for the 2019/20 year include The Strongest Man in History (8 x 60 minutes) and Axmen Reborn (10 x 60 minutes), a reboot of the long-running Ax Men series.

For National Geographic, new shows joining the lineup are travel cuisine show Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted (6 x 60 minutes), Running Wild with Bear Grylls (6 x 60 minutes) and studio-based quiz show Brain Games (8 x 60 minutes).

On Corus’ kids channels, Los Casagrandes (20 x 30 minutes), All That (13 x 30 minutes) and America’s Most Musical Family (12 x 30 minutes, working title) are headed to YTV, while Yabba Dabba Dinosaurs (26 x 15 minutes), Infinity Train and animated Thundercats reboot Thundercats Roar (52 x 15 minutes) are headed to Teletoon.

Elsewhere, Treehouse picked up Blue’s Clues & You! (20 x 30 minutes) and Disney Channel Canada added Gabby Duran and the Unsittables
