Veteran production executive Suzanne Berger has joined Neshama Entertainment, the Toronto-based production banner launched last year by Canadian producer Arnie Zipursky and L.A. studio MarVista Entertainment.
Berger has been appointed to the newly created post of VP, production. In the Toronto-based role, Berger will be tasked with overseeing all domestic production, as well as all Canadian copro partnerships. She will collaborate with MarVista’s head of creative affairs, Hannah Pillemer and its SVP of production, Jennifer Westin.
Berger is the former VP of television production at eOne, where she oversaw the pilot and first season of Hell on Wheels (AMC), as well as Rookie Blue (Global/ABC) and Skins (MTV). She exited that role in 2012 in order to launch her own prodco, Rosetta Media, which produced The Pinkertons (CHCH) alongside Buffalo Gal Pictures.
More recently, Berger has worked as a supervising producer on a pair of Halfire Entertainment sci-fi projects: Aftermath (Syfy/Space) and the upcoming Netflix series Another Life.
Berger’s hire comes as Neshama continues to build out its slate of in-development and in-production projects. According to the company, nine of its projects are in various stages of production while a further 27 are in development. That includes a slate of four movies, all in post-production, based on novels by American novelist V.C. Andrews.
Neshama Entertainment was launched in August 2018 through a partnership between L.A.-based producer/distributor MarVista and Zipursky, who also heads up CCI Entertainment. Co-founder and executive producer Zipursky is the majority shareholder in the company, while MarVista is the minority shareholder. MarVista handles international distribution (excluding Canada), with Neshama handling domestic rights.
