Production is currently underway in P.E.I. for author Susan Rodgers’ feature film debut Still the Water, wrapping on May 4.
The film is written, directed and produced by Rodgers and has been primarily funded by private equity through the province’s Community Economic Development Business share program (CEDB), which offers a tax credit to local investors. The total budget for the film is $300,000.
Still the Water tells the story of hockey player Jordie MacAuley (Ry Barrrett), who returns to a small town in P.E.I. for work and becomes forced to face his past. The film also stars Colin Price (Murdoch Mysteries) and Christina McInulty (Til Ex Do Us Part). Musician and Order of Canada recipient Lennie Gallant has written an original song for the film.
Rodgers is the author of the book series Drifters, which has been optioned by Pelee Entertainment president Heidi Lasi and producer Sharon Buckingham.
