Indie distributor Well Go USA has pre-bought U.S. rights to Brandon Cronenberg’s Possessor.
The deal for Cronenberg’s sophomore feature, following his acclaimed debut Antiviral (2012), was secured by Arclight Films at the American Film Market.
Produced by Rhombus Media and Rook Films, the feature is set to go into production in the first quarter of 2019. It follows an agent for a secretive organization who uses brain implant technology to inhabit other people’s bodies, leading them to commit assassinations for her wealthy clients. Andrea Riseborough (The Death of Stalin) and Christopher Abbot (James White) are set to star.
Producers on the project are Rhombus’ Fraser Ash, Niv Fichman and Kevin Krikst, and Rook Films’ Andy Starke. Arclight’s Gary Hamilton and Ryan Hamilton will exec produce, alongside Leeding Media’s Steven Squillante and David U. Lee, and Elevation Pictures’ Noah Segal and Adrian Love.
Elevation Pictures will distribute the Canada/U.K. copro in Canada. The film is produced with the participation of Telefilm Canada and Ontario Creates.
Gary Hamilton negotiated the deal for Arclight Films with Doris Pfardrescher of Well Go.
