9 Story joins Clifford The Big Red Dog reboot

The revamped preschool series, produced by Scholastic Entertainment, will premiere on PBS KIDS and Amazon Prime Video next fall.

Clifford The Big Red Dog is eyeing the small screen once again.

The popular Scholastic property is being rebooted in an all-new series that will bow simultaneously on PBS KIDS and Amazon Prime Video next fall. Currently in production, the 39-episode series is produced by Scholastic Entertainment, with 9 Story/Brown Bag Films animating the series and and New York-based 100 Chickens rounding out the creative team.

Based on the book series of the same name by Norman Bridwell that was originally published in 1963, the revamped show will feature Clifford and his best friend Emily Elizabeth. The toon will also feature original songs, new characters and a focus on social-emotional skills like empathy.

To accompany the series, Scholastic Entertainment will launch a global publishing, broadcast, merchandise and licensing program.

The original Clifford the Big Red Dog premiered on PBS KIDS in 2000 and went on to win nine Daytime Emmy nominations. It has aired in 110 countries and inspired a spinoff entitled Clifford’s Puppy Days. The Clifford book series, meanwhile, has sold more than 133 million copies in 16 different languages.
