ABC ME delves further into The Deep

The Australian broadcaster has greenlit a third season of the animated series produced by DHX Media, A Stark Production and Technicolor.

Australia’s ABC ME is giving the greenlight to season three of animated series The Deep. Co-producers DHX Media, Sydney-based A Stark Production and Paris-based Technicolor are currently working on 13 new half-hour episodes, which will also premiere on Netflix worldwide and DHX’s Family CHRGD in Canada.

Following the adventures of the Nekton family, the show’s third season will see its characters take on the Monumentials–huge creatures capable of changing the world after waking up from a long sleep.

The Deep‘s first two seasons air in more than 130 territories on broadcasters including Universal Kids (the U.S.), ABC ME (Australia) and CBBC (the U.K). DHX handles all distribution for the series, with Technicolor serving as the underlying rights holder. Technicolor oversees the brand’s licensing extensions alongside DHX Media-owned CPLG.

A 4D theatrical experience, The Deep: Mystery of Ancient Amulet, is set to premiere this spring, following the debut of a branded interactive experience in the U.K. and Germany at more than 20 Sea Life aquariums.
