U.K. and Australia-based Beyond Distribution has picked up the international distribution rights to Little Bear Big Wolf Pictures’ new docu-series Merchants of the Wild.
Written, directed and produced by Little Bear Big Wolf Pictures’ Daniel Fortin, Merchants of the Wild (13 x 30 minutes) follows six First Nations, Métis and Inuit adventurers as they travel 16th-century fur trade routes, using traditional skills and knowledge to survive.
APTN will air the series in Canada in both English and Oji-Cree, though a broadcast date has yet to be set.
Merchants of the Wild is the first series produced by Toronto-based Little Bear Big Wolf. Sean Buckley, CEO of Toronto’s Buck Productions exec produced the series, which recently wrapped production in the Constance Lake region of Northwestern Ontario. Paul Neary also served as a writer on the program.
Merchants of the Wild was made in partnership with the Canadian Media Fund and the Rogers Cable Network Fund.
